One of the airline points currencies is Virgin points, used by Virgin Atlantic. They are currently running a huge points boost, by connecting your Virgin account with Tesco Clubcard. Read on to find out more....
If you haven’t already read our points overview, find it here.
Just to clarify - this is not financial advice, this is just our opinion, and what we’ve done to maximise the introductory points bonuses.
Which airlines can I use Virgin points on?
Virgin is part of the Skyteam Airline alliance, meaning that you can redeem virgin points on:
Virgin Atlantic
Delta
Air France
SAS
KLM
Vietnam Airline
Korean Air
and more…

Virgin currently have an insane points offer at absolutely no cost to you. You can currently earn 6000 Virgin points without spending a penny.
They are offering 5000 points if you set up auto convert from your Tesco club card account. But be quick - this is only running until 10th May. And you can get an extra 1000 points by using a referral code - send us a message on socials or email hello@spendlesstravelmore.co.uk for a referral.
Who’s eligible?
Anybody who hasn’t previously selected auto convert to Virgin on Tesco Clubcard
You MUST have at least 250 Tesco club card points sitting in your account by the deadline (10th May).
How to get the points:
First, use a referral code and create a FREE Virgin Red account.
Then, log into your Tesco Clubcard account, select “voucher schemes”, and select “auto convert to Virgin”.
Enter your Virgin Red membership details, which should be 4 words, separated by hyphens, and can be found in “my account” on the Virgin red website.
The Clubcard points must be sitting in your Tesco account on 10th May.
Ensure you have at least 250 points sitting in your Clubcard account.
If you have Tesco vouchers already sitting in your account instead of points, and you need them to make up the total, you will need to convert these back into points (a £2.50 voucher is equivalent to 250 points). You can do this easily by calling the Tesco Clubcard helpline (I did this and they switched it for me straight away).
Spend at Tesco before 10th May to get the points balance up if you don’t have 250 - a couple of tanks of fuel and big food shops would do it!
If you’re unsure whether it’s worth it for you, or you’d rather use Tesco Clubcard points boosted elsewhere, you can always get the bonus, and then uncheck the points scheme option after 10th May. But this is a huge point boost, not to be missed.
What is 5000 points actually worth?
Virgin uses dynamic pricing, which means the points value of flights can vary massively. They currently have some flights to Seoul, Korea for just 7500!
And Virgin points do not expire, so if there’s a chance you COULD use them in the future, it’s worth doing.
If you absolutely don’t think you will use them for flights, then you can also use them on other things through Virgin Red such as experience days, train tickets or wine!
